HALLOWEEN: 20 YEARS LATER Written by Cody Hamman, based on the treatment by Kevin Williamson and the screenplays by Matt Greenberg and Robert Zappia ------- Note: I wasn't happy at all with H20 when it came out, so I considered doing a revision of it in '99 or so. This is the outline for it. The changes aren't very drastic, really. I ended up not writing it because, except for the ending, I didn't like my revision outline any more than I liked H20. ------- Start with a 7 to 10 minute opening sequence where DR. LOOMIS's daughter TRINA LOOMIS arrives at her house in Langdon, Illinois. She finds that her house has been broken into and her father's office ransacked, so she goes next door to call the police. A teenager named NATHAN is home next door, waiting for his girlfriend JENNY to come over. Nathan checks Trina's house out, but finds it empty. He goes back home just as Jenny pulls up. They go into Nathan's house and Trina goes back to her's. Trina goes through the house and, in the kitchen, finds knives all over the floor. She gets spooked and runs back over to Nathan's. There she finds Jenny's body with a knife sticking through her mouth and Nathan impaled to the back door with a fireplace poker. MICHAEL steps out of the shadows... A cop car pulls up and the cops go to Trina's house. Michael stabs Trina to death and she falls back through a window. The cops find her body as Michael drives away. The next day, it's pouring rain when MARION CHAMBERS pulls up. She's there to visit Trina. She goes into Trina's house and talks to SHERIFF BATES. Bates tells her what happened. Marion finds out LAURIE STRODE's file is missing from Loomis's bedroom/office. Main credits. In Red Bank, Pennsylvania, Laurie Strode, now going by the name CARRIE TATE, has a nightmare of her 1978 Halloween experience. When she wakes up, her son KEVIN is already up. They talk about how most of the students of the private high school she's principal of will be going on a trip to a campsite for the weekend. Kevin wants to go, his mom doesn't want him to. In Langdon, Marion tells Bates the story of Laurie. Bates says he'll try to contact Hillcrest (the school) or at least the Red Bank authorities. Back at Hillcrest, we're introduced to Kevin's girlfriend MELISSA and his friends CORY, SARAH, BRAD and SCOTT. We're also introduced to Carrie's boyfriend and fellow teacher JAKE, the security guard RONNIE and Carrie's secretary JANET. Brad and Scott want to go to the camp, Kevin can't, Sarah and Cory don't want to, Melissa doesn't want to because Kevin can't. Outside the gate, Michael arrives. Carrie gives the students a speech about behavior on their camp trip. Brad and Scott sneak outside to smoke and get caught by Ronnie. In town, SHERIFF CARPENTER gets a call from Bates. Back at Hillcrest, the stragglers plead their cases to Carrie. Brad and Scott can't go because they were caught smoking. Sarah says she's sick. Melissa says she needs to study for a history test. (Cory's just planning to miss the bus.) Sheriff Carpenter calls Janet, but the line goes dead before the conversation can start. The buses leave for the camp. Carpenter tells an officer named CASTLE to go to Hillcrest and check the place out. As Castle heads for Hillcrest, night falls. At Hillcrest, Janet tells Carrie about the phone line. Carrie says she'll get it fixed in the morning. Jake says he'll come over to Carrie's later that night, to keep her company since Kevin tells her he's going to hang out with his friends. It's a dark night when Castle arrives. He talks to Ronnie, Ronnie tells him everything's fine. Castle goes to leave, when he spots Michael's car down the road. He stops to check it out and Michael grabs him from behind, slitting his throat. In the campus, Kevin leaves to hang out with his friends. Jakes makes the rounds, checking on Melissa and Sarah. He passes Kevin in the hall. At Carrie's, she gets ready for Jake to show up. At the gate, Castle's patrol car pulls up while Ronnie is watching TV. Ronnie goes out to see what's going on, not seeing Michael go through the gate. Ronnie goes back to his shed and Michael messes with him. Ronnie goes to walk the perimeter. Outside Sarah's room, Brad and Scott are watching her, sitting in a tree and smoking. Scott tries to climb down the tree and falls. He walks off to take a leak and Michael strangles him. Michael then walks back to the tree and kills Brad. We look through the window to watch Melissa and Sarah leave their room to go meet up with Kevin and Cory. In her house, Carrie talks to Jake. Outside, Ronnie sees Michael walk into the school. In the cafeteria, the teens meet up. They head into the basement. Ronnie goes through the rooms and halls, being stalked by Michael. Michael finally catches him in the kitchen and kills him. In the basement, Cory leaves to go back to his room to get his stereo. In Carrie's house, she tells Jake the story of Michael Myers and the daughter she left behind. In his room, Cory is killed by Michael, getting thrown through the window, setting off the alarm. Sarah followed him. She gets killed, too. Kevin and Melissa run up to see what's going on and get chased by Michael. They run to Carrie's, where Carrie and Jake heard the alarm and are about to step outside. They go to Carrie's car, but Michael has messed with it. Jake's car is fine, but he left his keys in his office. They run to the school building. There's a big stalking sequence in the school, and Jake ends up getting killed. Carrie takes his keys and sends Kevin and Melissa out in the car. She then heads back to the school, equipped with an axe. Another big stalk sequence and a few Carrie vs Michael fights follow. Carrie is about to be killed on the balconey overlooking the pool when Kevin returns with Castle's gun. He shoots Michael six times, knocking him off the balconey and into the pool. Carrie shuts the pool cover as Michael's body sinks to the bottom. Carrie and Kevin walk out of the school together as the police arrive. THE END
