FADE IN TO:
Darkness, with a SMALL SHAPE in the center of the screen. As MAIN TITLES CONTINUE OVER, CAMERA SLOWLY MOVES IN ON the shape.
We get closer and closer until we see that the shape is a HALLOWEEN MASK. It is a large, full-head platex rubber mask, not a monster or ghoul, but the pale, NEUTRAL FEATURES OF A MAN weirdly distorted by the rubber.
Finally CAMERA MOVES IN CLOSE on the eyes of the mask. It is blank, empty, a dark, staring socket. SUPERIMPOSE FINAL CREDIT.
Black screen. SUPERIMPOSE:
EXT. SMITH'S GROVE SANITARIUM-NIGHT
Treetops saw in the windy night. The large, gloomy SMITH'S GROVE SANITARIUM building is perched high atop a hill. As the CAMERA approaches, a large sign comes into view. It reads:
INT. SMITH'S GROVE-LONG CORRIDOR
A long empty hallway, surrounded by pale white walls, is silent. CAMERA moves slowly down the corridor. SHRIEKING is heard. CAMERA TRACKS onward to the end of the hallway.
INT. SMITH'S GROVE-OPERATING ROOM
A circular operating room. BODIES litter the floor, blood covers the blue-tinted walls. Two file cabinets sit perched against the wall. Between them, a FIGURE cowardly hides.
ANGLE ON DOORWAY - A SHADOW comes into view. The shadow is that of a large man that carries a BUTCHER KNIFE in his hands.
SHRIEKING from the figure is heard. The FIGURE steps out from between the file cabinets to reveal TERENCE WYNN, an aged man. He reaches toward a dead DOCTOR, removing a scalpal from his hand.
Wynn moves back in between the cabinets, hiding.
ANGLE ON DOORWAY - Another FIGURE comes into view -- The SHAPE. The SHAPE slowly moves into the room, his blue coveralls covered in blood. The Shape walks with a limp.
SHAPE'S POV - The Shape looks over the entire room, studying it. A FIGURE hides behind a file cabinet.
Wynn cowers in fear as the Shape has him in sight. Wynn graps the scalpel and LUNGES at the Shape.
THE SHAPE'S POV - Wynn quickly jumps at him. Two massive, scarred hands reach upward and grab the older man's neck. Wynn loses hold of the scalpel and quickly loses breath.
The Shape, still holding Wynn with his left hand, bends downward and picks up the scalpel.
The Shape curiously moves his head downward to the right.
EXT. SMITH'S GROVE-PARKING LOT-NIGHT
The parking lot is huge, made to look even bigger by the fact that there are only two cars. Next to the curb is a RED JEEP; driven by TOMMY DOYLE. Standing on the curb is DOCTOR SAM LOOMIS; extremely aged.
Tommy Doyle sits in the driver's seat, his hands gripped tightly to the wheel. In the passenger seat is KARA STRODE, holding baby STEVEN LLOYD to her chest. In the backseat is six-year-old DANNY STRODE.
EXT. SMITH'S GROVE-PARKING LOT-SAME (INTERCUT)
Tommy disappointedly starts the engine.
EXT. SMITH'S-GROVE-PARKING LOT
The Jeep drives off.
INT. SMITH'S GROVE-DARK CORRIDOR
An ELEVATOR DOOR opens. Sam Loomis moves out of it, limping. He moves forward ten feet, making his way through an opened cage barrier.
Loomis turns down the hallway. Dingy walls surround the area. Loomis moves thirty feet down the hallway to find the Shape -- unconscious on the ground.
Loomis kneels downward and pulls off the Shape's trademark mask.
Under the mask lays the face of Terence Wynn. Loomis shoots upward in shock.
Wynn grabs Loomis' wrist. Sam is unable to break free.
Wynn's evil LAUGH is heard. Loomis stands upward and looks at his wrist.
ANGLE ON LOOMIS' WRIST - The Thorn mark slowly burns intself in under the palm.
In shock, Loomis begins looking at all directions. Moments later, Loomis begins to SCREAM.
At hallways end, we see a FIGURE move toward a white light. Loomis slowly takes notice.
ANGLE ON FIGURE - The figure looks to both of his sides. He is dressed in the familiar clothing of the STRANGER.
PAN DOWN FROM HEAD - We slowly move down the figure. As we reach the waist, a burnt hand is holding a silver-tipped cane. PAN DOWN further to the feet. There, instead of the usual silver-tipped boots, a pair of normal boots are seen.
The figure makes his way out of sight.
EXT. SMITH'S GROVE-NIGHT
The sanitarium sits perched on a hill. A large SCREECH is heard. PAN AROUND the area. We see several large VEHICLES pull up to the sanitarium. Painted onto the side on one of the navy-blue vans is:
The backdoor of every van opens. Several armored-clad SWAT MEMBERS rush out, automatic weapons in their arms.
Thirty POLICE VEHICLES pull up. Out of one comes CAPT. JAKE TYLER. He pulls a radio from his belt and puts it in front of his face.
EXT. SMITH'S GROVE-PARKING LOT-SAME
The Figure stands behind a bush. Seven Swat Members come into view. The Figure takes cover behind the bush.
The Swat members look in every direction; their weapons perched to their shoulders.
SWAT #3 searches near the bush; out of sight from the other team members. A RUSTLING is heard.
The other Swat Members continue eyeing their areas; oblivious to Swat #3's calls.
Still no response from the other team members.
The Shape's scarred hands reach out and pull the man behind the bush. A FIGHT is heard.
EXT. BEHIND BUSH
SWAT #3 lays silent; dead on the ground. The shape removes a hunting knife from the man's chest. A weapon is missing from the man's belt.
EXT. SMITH'S GROVE-PARKING LOT
Swat #2 motions toward the other four swat members.
Swat #1 removes a radio from his belt.
Swat #1 motions his hand toward the bushes.
The six remaining Swat members rush over toward the bush. All six stop five feet away from it.
No response. Suddenly, a RUSTLING sound is heard.
All six remaining team members fire their weapons. Loud GUNSHOTS are heard.
All members quit shooting.
Swat #1 moves toward the bush.
SWAT #1's POV - The large bush stands before us. Swat #1 moves behind the bush and looks down. There, in front of us, is the body of SWAT #3. A large stab wound is in the chest, but there are also a few gunshots.
Suddenly, the Shape appears behind Swat #1. #1 turns, but is quickly stabbed in the stomach. Barely alive, Swat #1 reaches for his weapon. Quickly, the Shape takes the hunting knife and slits his throat from ear to ear.
The five remaining swat members fire at the Shape. All shots are hits, and the Shape begins moving backward. SIRENS are heard. Five more SWAT VANS appear. The back of these vans open and fourty more SWAT MEMBERS arrive.
All of the new members begin firing. After several bullet rounds, the Shape falls backward; unconscious.
EXT. SMITH'S GROVE-EMPLOYEE EXIT-NIGHT
Three sides of brick walls border an area around a steel door. In front of the door is a series of steps.
The door opens to reveal Wynn. He quickly moves up the steps in shock.
EXT. SMITH'S GROVE-EMPLOYEE PARKING LOT-SAME (SECONDS LATER)
The parking lot is empty; save for a green HONDA. Wynn quickly opens the driver's side door of the Honda and gets in. Quickly, the engine starts and the vehicle drives away.
